Features of the Total Solar Eclipse Viewed from Corvallis Oregon

Features of the Total Solar Eclipse Viewed from Corvallis Oregon

Some key features of the eclipse are represented in this illustration. The base image was taken at 8:00am just before the eclipse and we can see the two sunspots AR2671 and AR2672.

During totality we can see two prominences with accompanying helmet streamers in the corona. Helmet streamers are trapped regions of million degree plasma that is shaped by the strong magnetic fields of the Sun.

Note: There is a third prominence at the top of image where you can easily see the corresponding helmet streamer. Due to the processing it's not very discernible. I will be replacing the image when I get time.
