Located in the Large Magellanic Cloud in the southern constellation of Dorado, NGC 2070 is a massive open star cluster which forms the heart of the spectacular Tarantula Nebula, the most active starburst region in the Local Group. Itself one of the most energetic star clusters ever discovered, NGC 2070 holds a huge number of giant stars, including R136a1, the most massive star known.
