Solar prominences in Ha

Solar prominences in Ha

Date/Time: Apr 16, 2012 3:03PM PDT

Location: My home, Victoria, BC, Canada

Huge solar prominences, including detached plasma on the large, but fainter prom at 8 o'clock position. Huge lines of plague are visible on the surface. Sunspots 1455, 1458 & 1459 are barely visible.

The detached prominence at the 8 o'clock position is considered an M1 class, which is potentially dangerous, however it is not aimed at Earth, so we are in the clear.
