Jupiter-Venus conjunction

Jupiter-Venus conjunction

Date/time: Mar 13, 2012 8:25PM PDT
Location: My home, Victoria, BC, Canada

The conjunction of Jupiter and Venus this evening was a nice treat considering earlier in the day we had snow showers, so I wasn't expecting to observe this close planetary conjunction. Jupiter and Venus were only 3° 0' apart this evening as I observed them in the western sky from my back porch overlooking the city of Victoria.

Jupiter is on the left, and Jupiter's moon Castillo is vislble just above and to the left of the planet in this close-up photo.
