Mars and the Beehive Cluster May 4 2025
What a beautifully clear evening last night at the VCO. Like the subject title there was a buzz of activity. It was dusk when we arrived so we had to wait for more darkness.
I aligned the tracker very roughly at Polaris. As it turned out there was some alignment inaccuracy which resulted in some elongation of the stars. At this particular scale it's not very noticeable and an iteration of RC-Astro's Blurxtermintor makes it even less noticeable. Next time I'll take the time to do a real polar alignment.
