Elephant Trunk Widefield View

Elephant Trunk Widefield View

A Widefield view of the Elephant Trunk Nebula (IC1396 in Cepheus), Sep 2022
Williams Optics Redcat APO 51; - ASI2600MC;
Celestron CGEM II; IDAS NBZ Nebular Booster Filter;
84 x 600s exposures, Bin 1, Gain 100;
Total Integration Time = 13.9 hours;

A widefiled view of the Elephant Trunk is a great example of the forms (pillars and fingers) that form when molecular or ionized clouds are blown away from newly formed stars that originally sourced them.
I remain impressed by the performance of my Redcat telescope (and ASI2600MC) camera, and I have enjoyed capturing and processing these wide fields. I still have two more images to process, but I am looking forward to getting my repaired mount controller back shortly.
