I have been upgrading a vintage Boller and Chivens 16” telescope, at the
Centre of the Universe, with modern Go-To functions. After a long slog, I finally have it working. On the 21st we had clear skies and I wanted to do an initial alignment. I slewed to Saturn and was surprised to see the rings had flattened out again. They were completely flat and invisible back in late March, and I assumed that they would continue to gain tilt. Turns out as earth moves around the sun our view of the rings flattens out again. You can see a dark shadow cast by the rings on the planet;s surface, but the rings are barely visible.
