Moon Halo

Moon Halo

This image shows a halo around the moon observed from my back yard in Victoria BC at 10:40 PM PST on Jan 17, 2011. Halos like this originate when the light of the moon is bent passing through hexagonal ice crystals.
Details
Tripod mounted T1i camera with a cobbled up fisheye lens I made from a Sigma 10-20mm lens with a fish eye adapter from a point and shoot camera added.
Exposures of 4, 8, 15 and 30 seconds at ISO 400 and f/5.6 were combined in Photoshop.
