There are multiple solar flares in this photo showing a variety of shapes. The edge detection processing has enhanced the detail in the flares and clearly shows the waves of plasma as it shoots away from the Sun and off into space.

Equipment: Canon 50D dSLR a-focal through a 2.5x Powermate & Lunt LS60THa + LS50FHa solar telescope mounted on an HEQ5 tracking mount.
Processing: ACDSee Pro 2.5 - Sobel edge detection, moderate contrast stretch, crop.
