This is a reprocessed image of the Elephant Trunk Nebula. It shows a portion of the IC 1396 emission nebula with the imbedded VdB142, the elephant's trunk dark nebula.
Details: - Date and location - 2007-09-09 at Observatory Hill in Victoria. Equipment - Williams 105 mm refractor with modified Canon 350D on HEQ5 mount. Exposure - 57 light and 40 dark frames each 58 sec. at ISO 1600 plus 25 flat frames for calibration. Processing in ImagesPlus, Pixinsite and Photoshop.
