NGC 6939 and 6946 (Arp29)

This is a reprocessed version of NGC 6939 and 6946 taken in 2007. 6939 is a rich open star cluster approximately 4000 ly distant in the constellation Cepheus. It was discovered by William Herschel in 1798. NGC 6946, sometimes referred to as the Fireworks Galaxy, is a face-on intermediate spiral galaxy straddling the boundary between the constellations Cepheus and Cygnus. Its distance from Earth is about 25.2 million light-years
Details-
Date and location- early morning of 2007-07-25 at the Dominion Observatory hill near Victoria.
Equipment- Williams 105 mm with modified Canon 350D on HEQ5 mount.
Exposures- 40 lights and 24 darks at ISO 1600 and 118 sec each plus 25 flats.
Processing- ImagesPlus, Pixinsite and Photoshop.
