This is a 21 minute processed image of M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy captured with the new Hyperstar imaging system on the 14" SCT of Victoria Centre Observatory. It has been made by stacking 21 - 60s exposures and calibrating with flat, bias and dark frames and sharpening the result in Images Plus with some color enhancement done in Photoshop. This version has been highly cropped and carefully processed to capture as much color and detail as possible.
