IC5146, the Cocoon Nebula
This is my first attempt at the Cocoon region. It is in an interesting setting with the dark nebula Barnard 168 surrounding the Cocoon Nebula and trailing off to the west. I continue to be amazed at how many beautiful things there are in the sky.
Details:
Date and location- 2007-08-04/5 at the Dominion Observatory Hill, Victoria BC.
Equipment- Williams 105mm refractor, modified Canon 350D and HEQ5 mount.
Exposures- 80 light and 28 dark frames each 58s at ISO 1600. Used 25 flats for calibration as well.
Processing- Calibration, alignment, stacking and digital development in Images plus followed by additional processing in photoshop and astronomy tools.
