NGC 2903 and 2916
NGC 2903 is a magnitude 9.6 barred Spiral Galaxy in Leo that is 20 million light years distant. It is one that Charles Messier missed for some reason as it is quite prominent. It has an unusual level of star formation in the core. NGC 2916 is a nearby spiral that is much dimmer at magnitude 12.7.

Date and location - 2009-05-12 in backyard, Victoria BC
Coditions - Clear, light wind, 7 deg C.
Equipment - WO 105 mm refractor with modified Canon 350D.
Exposure - 51 light, 20 dark and 20 flat frames for total of 51min exposure at ISO 1600.
