Unusual Nebula NGC 6164
Beautiful emission nebula NGC 6164 in the southern constellation of Norma is created by a rare, hot, luminous O-type star, 40 times as massive as the Sun. The star at the center of the cosmic cloud is 3 to 4 million years old. There is a faint gaseous shell surrounding this planetary nebula, but only hints of it are visible on the outer edges of this photo.
