Solar Prominences in Ha

Solar observing at the Island Star Party rewarded us with some spectacular prominences and surface features. The Sun had multiple large prominences, some had detached from the Sun's surface with bits floating into space, while others were simple spikes. One giant feature resembled a haystack.
Some simple colour and contrast parameters were applied to this photo to yield a more traditional view than my usual use of Sobel method edge detection. A lovely reddish-orange solar surface is revealed with deep red prominences leaping out into space.
Equipment: Hutech-modified Canon T2i dSLR a-focal through a 2.5x Powermate, IDAS VLC filter, & Lunt LS60THa + LS50FHa solar telescope mounted on an HEQ5 tracking mount.
Exposure: 1/60 second at ISO 1600
Bandpass: <0.55 Å
Processing: ACDSee Pro 4 - Modest contrast stretch and colour adjustments, crop and resize.
