Crescent Nebula

Crescent Nebula

I've been exploring Cygnus in Hydrogen-Alpha light, while the moon is waxing. The Crescent nebula (NGC 6888) surrounds a Wolf-Rayet star, HD 192163, that is nearing the end of its life. Its intense solar winds are lighting up earlier mass ejections from its red giant phase. The surrounding nebulosity is part of a huge complex of emission nebulosity in Cygnus.
