Summer Triangle and the Milky Way

Summer Triangle and the Milky Way

August 13 2023 2:40am

It was a beautiful weekend at Bright Angel Park for the Island Star Party. Although Friday night was spotty there was plenty to look at through various open spots in the sky.

Saturday night was the best with numerous Perseid meteor sightings. The Milky Way was ever present and spanned the sky above us from the Teapot at the southern end of the field to Cassiopeia in the north east.

In this shot the Summer Triangle is visible with a brilliant Vega, Cygnus aligned with the Great Rift and Altair just visible near the trees along the horizon.
