Comet 103P Hartley 2 in the Evening

Comet 103P Hartley 2 in the Evening

Another chance to photograph the comet but this time with the aid of longer exposures and lower ISO settings. I've made an interesting observation about the time of day of the shot. On the 7th I had photographed in the early morning with the comet over the darker area of my sky in the west.In my surburban front yard my easterly part of the sky is illuminated by the neighbourhood street lights and any haze in the sky is deadly. However on the westerly side the sky is darker by as much as 2 units on the Sky Quality Meter. In the west I get a typical reading of 19 on a moonless night, the east usually shows up as 17. So last night was a challenge along with the IDAS light pollution filter having a tendency to pick up reflections from nearby overhead street lights. I just have to remember shielding the lens during the exposures. I hope to use the NP101is for a closer view next time later this week.
