Canada Day - Sun Halo on Douglas St.

Canada Day - Sun Halo on Douglas St.

Happy Canada Day! Brenda and I were waiting for the bus after an afternoon of Canada Day celebrations downtown. Near City Hall across the street I could see a beautiful sun halo positioned above a building.

As Les Cowley notes on his website Atmospheric Optics these halos beautiful as they are require care when observing and photographing. I was lucky that the Sun was obscured by the building in the shot and I was using a non-optical (electronic) viewfinder. This avoided eye and sensor damage. Obviously never stare at the Sun without appropriate filtration.
