Comet 17/P Holmes - a 2 day comparison
October 25 & 26, 2007
Observatory Hill, Victoria, BC, Canada
This image illustrates how much the gas cloud surrounding the comet has grown in size over the 24 hour period.
The 'contoured' versions of the images on the right are 64 colour paletted version of the original images on the left. This technique highlights the rings of similar levels of light, which illustrates the shape of the comet's various parts. It also shows the faint blue ring outside the gas cloud.
