Needham Memorial
Star trails appear above the Memorial Bell Tower in this hour long exposure. Located in Fort Needham Memorial Park, the tower was erected in 1985 to commemorate those who were killed or injured when the munitions ship SS Mount Blanc exploded in the Halifax Harbour at 9:04 on the morning of December 6, 1917. The French cargo ship, fully loaded with wartime explosives, caught fire following an accidental collision with the Belgian SS Imo. The massive detonation and ensuing fires killed some 1950 citizens and injured over 9000.
