Pinwheel Galaxy (M101)
This is one hour of data on Messier 101 captured in March 2013 (processed in May 2013). The data consists of 12 5 minute frames captured with a QSI 583c@-20*c through the Televue 127 at the Victoria Centre Observatory. The image was calibrated with dark, flat, and bias frames. Processing and annotation was accomplished using Pixinsight.
Despite a low total integration this image reveals detail down to a 1x1 pixel crop, while highlighting several hydrogen alpha regions on the main galaxy. Numerous background galaxies are also visible (some are annotated).
