Conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter with Venus nearby and Mercury

Conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter with Venus nearby and Mercury

Date/time: Feb 26, 2012 6:56PM PST
Location: My home, Victoria, BC, Canada

Due to cloudy conditions, at 6:56PM PST there was only a few minutes to observe Mercury low to the western horizon. I managed to take two photos which captured Mercury as well as Venus and the Jupiter-Moon conjunction. 4 day old Crescent Moon over Victoria.

A few minutes after this photo was taken, clouds covered not only the western horizon, but also closed in overhead. Mercury is visible in this photo just above the small horizontal cloud in the bottom right corner. Venus is in the centre, and Jupiter is to the left of the 4 day old Crescent Moon (angular separation is 3° 20").
