As I observed the Sun this afternoon, there were two prominent features visible: a moderate sized prominence and some huge areas of plage on the surface. I employed a High Dynamic Range technique to capture both features in one image.
Exposure: 4 photos taken at 1/4, 1/8, 1/15 & 1/30 second at ISO 800, RAW format. Bandpass: <0.55 A
Equipment: Hutech-modified Canon T2i dSLR a-focal through a 2.5x Powermate, IDAS UIBAR-III filter, & Lunt LS60THa + LS50FHa solar telescope mounted on an HEQ5 tracking mount.
Processing:
Dynamic-Photo HDR - combine 4 images, aligned, tone mapped using RAW input and saved as 48 bit TIFF.
ACDSee Pro 3 - Sobel edge detection; modest contrast stretch, crop, save as jpg.
