Cygnus Starfield

Cygnus Starfield

It was a moonless night with Cygnus high overhead. It was well positioned for imaging. I wasn't prepared for the number of stars. The North America Nebula is well resolved along with the reddish interstellar dust surrounding the central star in Cygnus, Sadr. Below this region, though it is hard to see with all the stars you get a hint of the crescent shaped Eastern Veil. The most amazing part of all is the dark lane known as the Great Rift that runs through the image.
