The North America Nebula
Early this morning at the VCO we were pleasantly surprised when the clouds parted after gathering before midnight for what we believed to be a perfect night. Although the seeing was less than ideal imaging wider field objects was definitely ok.
This was my third opportunity to use the Canon 60da and this time the conditions were good enough to show off some of the capabilities of the camera. As noted in many articles the sensor is well-suited for hydrogen emission objects with their characteristic magenta red glow. Perhaps not as good as some of the custom modified cameras but much better than a stock daylight camera.
