M45 The Pleiades

The Seven Sisters is a favourite object of the autumn night sky. At this time of year you have to stay up until 1 o'clock in the morning to optimally image it at an appropriate height in the sky. The time is also getting closer to that magical hour when the sky starts to get inky black. This is especially true if you're lucky enough to be far away from the urban glow.

Early Saturday morning, well past my more usual bedtime I could see the Seven Sisters peaking over the treetops at the VCO. The air was still and tracking with the Astrotrac had been effortlessly simple. That's the way you want it to be.
