Orion Belt Region

This region of the Orion Constellation has some fascinating objects including the Horsehead and Flame Nebulae. The three bright stars are Mintaka (top right), Alnilam and Alnitak (middle left) are Orion's belt. The Horsehead (B33) is below Alnitak and the Flame (NGC 2024 to its left. IC 425 and NGC 2023 are also visible to the left of the Horsehead.
Details
Location and date- Radar Hill near Tofino, BC on 2007-12-28. Equipment- Modified Canon 350D camera with 300mm lens on Astrotrack mount. Exposure- 10 light and 14 dark frames at f/4 and ISO 800 for 122s each with 20 flat frames added for calibration. Processing- Calibration, alignment, stacking and digital development in ImagesPlus. Modest reduction accomplished with Photoshop.
