Prominences and Sunspot AR1534 on the Sun in Ha

Prominences and Sunspot AR1534 on the Sun in Ha

Date/Time: July 31, 2012 2:12PM PDT

Location: My home, Victoria, BC, Canada

The large prominence just above centre in this image started as a flare, and is transitioning into a prom. Sunspot AR1534 is clearly visible 1/3 the way from the bottom of this photo, and has an impressive solar storm swirling around it on the Sun's surface.

Hutech-modified Canon T2i dSLR a-focal through a 2.5x Powermate, IDAS VLC filter & Lunt LS60THa + LS50FHa solar telescope mounted on an HEQ5 tracking mount.

Processing:
Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 - Reduce colour depth to 8 bit, crop, adjust light curves and clarity.
Adobe Lightroom 4 - annotate, save as jpg.
