NGC 869 and NGC 884
The Double Cluster in Perseus, photographed Oct. 4, 2018. 50x30-sec subframes, 20 flats and a master dark. ES127ED apo, camera ASI183 MC Pro. Was happy to reveal some good colour, especially the contrasting blue and gold.
I observed this for the first time at a star party in 2004 and could not stop watching it. I wrote: "A profound stillness, a feeling of three-dimensionality. The two knots of stars against the infinite depths of the milky way; hints of endless star dust in the next spiral arm".
